Art, fashion & viceversa

In the afternoon of a cold and misty day, I decided to go and see an exhibition at the White Cube Gallery in Bermondsey with a friend of mine, after which I carried on somewhere else for dinner. A full and exciting day ahead which encouraged me to mix and match my outfits - creating one outfit compatible for two different occasion.

I found Christian Marclay's work truly inspirational, it was based on a series of artworks on canvas and paper featuring onomatopoeia taken from comic books. Combining cartoon-strip imagery and the dripping, pouring and splashing noises associated with gestural abstraction, the works ironically bridge a gap between art movements as distinct as Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art. It was different and easy to see.

Soon after this 'creative interlude' and a quick coffee, I had to leave in time for my dinner date. For this occasion I wanted to be smart but not too dressed up. Which is why I picked the navy blazer with thin white lines matching the navy socks with little spots, white shirt with a light-grey bow-tie matching the military cut coat, brown leather shoes and skinny dark navy jeans making the outfit a bit more casual. Do you think I hit the target?
