Today is a day to encorage people to make the world better with a sweater. This is the slogan of Save the Children, the charity that runs an annual Christmas Jumper Day each year in December. It encorages people to raise money for the charity by wearing their Christmas jumpers on a specific day. Well, today is the day and as every year I can guarantee that it will be very popular with schools and workplaces. Those taking part can wear a Christmas jumper they already own, decorate an existing jumper with festive decorations, or even knit their own. In the United Kingdom, Christmas jumpers became popular during the 1980s after a variety of television presenters and some singers who appeared in these type of jumpers their television Christmas specials. Later in the 90s, they were seen as gag gifts and they gained camp appeal during the 2010s. It's incredible the impact that has in retail. Some online retailers increased in sale up to 600% the last years, and trend has been followed by a number of celebrities. Nowadays we easily find our own crazy jumper to stand out of the Christmas jumper crowd! Get your own one and support awareness by showing the playful part of your inner self!
Today I am wearing one of this jumpers too. A red coloured one with little Christmas elements like a snowman, Santa Claus or Rudolf. To wear a black and white button-up shirt underneath gives the outfit a grown-up touch. Tip: Don't put your shirt into your jeans, letting it lurk out in order to have the right level of casuality added to it. To keep it smarter, I am wearing black and white brogues looking like a penguin. I find them perfect for the Xmas season and I combined them with Christmas tree pattern socks. I just love it! To keep myself warm I chose a stone grey double breasted coat, an ivory beanie and triple-coloured leather gloves matching the colours of the outfit.
I wish you a fantastic holidays.
Merry Christmas!
