The Autumn/Winter 2021-2022 trends are still in force with the coldest
months yet to come. Every six months or so the questions revisits: What should
I wear? What is on trend and what isn´t anymore? What’s to be rescued, what to
discard, what fits and suits? And
finally, what do I add in the wardrobe? There are times when, reviewing new
season trends, you realise that they are so abstract that it is difficult to relate
to them, answer all your questions and translate them to wearing them on the
street, in real life. After all, what we see on the catwalk is an idealised version
of the looks that the brands propose for the next six months. However, wearing
these looks literally on a day-to-day basis may not be, at times, as practical,
comfortable or wearable as we expected. In addition to the fact that not all
bodies are the same, all options must be adapted to our style. Here are some
tips for the upcoming winter season in which I mention some trends along with
some basics, perfect for the office and for the weekend.
Denim on denim is one of the key trends this season, and although we've
been seeing the whole thing of wearing total jean-looks for a few years now,
this time it's back with a lot more fierceness. Always remember that the trick
to doing it right is to wear the same colour on top and bottom. This time all
shades are valid, from blue to black, and all finishes. Another trend on the rise
is total leather from head to toe, but perhaps seeing it on the street is more
complicated which is the reason why we go for the essential piece: the leather
jacket. Another addition to the great AW 21/22 trends is office suits. You can
find them with single or crossed buttons. If you are thinking of a colour,
black is the safest option, but if you want to fully align with the catwalk
proposals and make a difference, chocolate brown is what you are looking for
this season. If you want to wear something on top to make it even edgier, look
for an XXL trench in beige. This garment returns stronger yet still classy as
ever and when the temperatures drop, simply change the trench coat for a plaid
coat. On a different note you’ll be happy to be told the chunky knitwear you've
had when little are making a strong comeback but with a little twist this time
in the form of oversized cardigans. When it comes to accessories, if you need
something to carry all your things, the XS bag is not your ‘ting’ but still you’ll
want to wear it; and if you look at the footwear, the sneakers lose prominence,
although they do not disappear, and the Chelsea boots, lace-up shoes or chunky-soled,
worker boots take over.

I am wearing a bold, red shirt with blue stripes, all buttoned up, tacked
in the ivory pleated trousers. I have styled that with a navy, safari-looking
overshirt with maxi pockets, no lapel, belted around the waist. The grey,
multi-colour detailed shoes are one of my favourite pairs from the Camper Twins
collection. I love the idea of creating a spot-the-difference type of shoe,
creating a bigger picture rather than an individual, with the almost identical
but not quite concept. My socks are navy with details in red and continuing
with the rest of the accessories completing the outfit is a vintage, leather, crossed
bag. To finish up, a relaxed, check-print trench in black and white that wraps
beautifully the total.
