La isla bonita

Last night I dreamt of San Pedro
Just like I'd never gone, I knew the song
A young girl with eyes like the desert
It all seems like yesterday, not far away

Tropical the island breeze
All of nature wild and free
This is where I long to be
La isla bonita
And when the samba played
The sun would set so high
Ring through my ears and sting my eyes
Your Spanish lullaby

(Madonna)

You barely know a land or a destination if you do not meet its main city. The capital condense the past, the roots and the history, the present and the future of the rest of the land. I love big cities, especially if they have charm, lovely weather and they are in the sea side. After spending time in the south of Gran Canaria, my friend and I visited Las Palmas, at the north east of the island. We loved the narrow streets and historical squares of the old town. We went up to Santa Ana's Cathedral where we enjoyed the stunning views of the city from above. I tried the tastiest gazpacho ever and we had a coffee in a charming kiosk in San Telmo Park after getting some sweets and souvenirs in Triana Street - the most popular commercial road of the city. We went for a spontaneous dip as we use to do almost every evening, at Las Canteras beach and dined on the nearby terrace.

I am wearing a very casual and incredibly comfortable outfit with an oversize white shirt with vertical stripes in black, green and yellow. It's very loose and thin fabric, perfect for the hottest days of the year. I love the cut of the collar and I am wearing it quite open making it even more casual. Matching the black stripes, the taped shorts and the leather flip flops. A baseball player style cap also in green, black and very thin white lines was the perfect accessory for such a day. I carry on playing with colour combination with the double colour sun glasses in black and white.
