Within the trend of the normcore, nondescript workers, accidentally, become the stars of fashion shows. Not only executives who rack their brains behind keyboards, but the mechanics and the plumbers who fix the flaws of modern society too. The overalls and boiler suits leave the workshop and become the new formalwear; a trend that initially has had its birth in women's fashion and for which little by little, brands started betting on this type of garment only to give a new purpose to it. We have gone from seeing it as a simple, work-related piece, evolving into a booming garment that many firms have presented in their collections. Undoubtedly, this fall will be the season in which it will sneak into more wardrobes, whilst in summer we have already seen it successfully in more than a few fashion weeks. It’s a guarantee (my prediction) that this trend will continue to stomp with a rise of new, truly amazing creations.
The men’s overall is a garment that is quite warm in general, since most of them are created of thick fabrics, although there are also lighter options ideal for summer. The trick would be to style them with the right accessories and special attention to footwear. The goal is to find accessories with the dual ability to highlight your jumpsuit while breaking up its monotony, at the same time. Jumpsuits are, undeniably, a statement style; an all-in-one garment that creates a striking look that goes beyond a simple pair of trousers and t-shirt combo, and into more fashionable territories. There are many ways a jumpsuit can be styled and you need to be confident in how you are going to wear it. If you opt for a formal look then combine your jumpsuit with a shirt and tie with a pair of brogues or Oxford shoes which would, unequivocally, be the perfect option. In case we want to go relaxed and comfortable, the casual jumpsuit is the perfect choice to get you out of your jeans and T-shirt rut. Choose from cotton and denim varieties in a range of silhouettes to find the one that suits your style. In particular, loose-fit jumpsuits that feature an elasticated or drawstring waist tend to be universally flattering. For a casual look, you can keep it simple when it comes to styling by wearing the overall slightly unbuttoned to reveal your top or buttoned-up for a seamless look. Overalls don’t always mean covering your entire body, so sleeveless and short-style jumpsuits look great as well. Boiler suits come in many different fabric variations, but denim will always be a favourite. Instead of going for the more apparent indigo style, experiment with less obvious denim colours.
I am wearing a very fit jumpsuit in cyan colour. A light fabric garment, short-sleeve which is perfect for summer. Wanting to present it in a pretty casual way with a basic, black t-shirt underneath and b&w stripy Converse also matching the white socks. My intention was to add some colour to the look using the red bomber which goes with the colours of the little pouch I am carrying. The last accessory, vital for these last sunny days of September, is the colour block sunglasses, also in black and white.
