My style before trends

Dressing well is an art form that not everyone can necessarily master, but everyone could. The potential is there, with a few timeless rules and tips that never go out of style. The fact is that there have been numerous dos and don'ts in the fashion world, yet several have already become obsolete. Some of the remaining can come in rather handy. It’s all a matter of expression and personal taste, though beyond this, there are a few basic elements that can make any look, from formal to casual, look perfect. In fashion, there are things that work for a portion of people yet are disastrous for others, so the rules that matter in reality are a bit more abstract and have to do with details that flatter one. The best part is that these, more than anything, are suggestions, and you don't really have to stick to any of it, should you not feel like it.

Yes, men look great in suits, but the key to achieving this is finding the right fit, one that isn't too short, too long, or too tight. Unless you think you can pull off the odd or quirky. You should pay attention to the cut of the shoulders, the length of the sleeves and fitting of the trousers. It’s vital to be able to move your arms comfortably. Classic suits work best because you can wear them for a long, long time without them looking dated or old. Oh! And suits aren’t meant to go only with shirts. Here’s a free tip; if you want your shirts to last longer and look good no matter the season, then go for classic colours and patterns - these always work and you can pair them with everything. There's nothing wrong with wearing black from head to toe, but colour can really make your looks pop. Whether it's casual or formal, colour can be an interesting element. In the case of suits, green, white, and blue are great options. Shoes come in all price ranges, but if you want quality, durability, and good style, then you have to pay a little more. Choose simple and elegant designs and colours. These are the ones you can wear for a lifetime. With sneakers, the principle is the same - the best ones are more expensive, but here you can play with colours and styles. In the end, the coolest models become collector's items. With accessories, quality is always better than quantity. You don't need to have rings all over your fingers, wear 3 chains, a scarf, glasses, a hat, brooches all at once. It's better to opt for minimalism and choose just a few pieces that complement your look, and they don't necessarily have to be the same colour as your clothes, although they should create a good combination. You don't need to spend a fortune on a watch, but you do need to invest a little more to get a good piece. Remember, if you want a durable, classic, long-lasting, and elegant piece, then you must pay a little more. In the long run, that investment will be worth it, especially when you've been wearing the same watch for 20 years and it still looks really cool.

Follow your own style, not trends. The best dressed men always have something in common, they wear what they like, what works for them and makes them feel good, instead of wanting to look like the mannequin of the season. You can incorporate trends, but in a subtle way that corresponds to your personal style. One of the worst mistakes when dressing is wearing the wrong clothes for the occasion. You can't wear a tracksuit and sweatshirt to a wedding (unless you're told to) and it also makes no sense to wear your best suit to play a football game. If you want to look good without spending too much, then you must invest in pieces that you can combine in different ways and that can look formal or casual depending on the rest of the pieces you wear.

The rules of fashion are just suggestions and there are times when breaking them can give you very good results, you just must learn to read the occasion. In my case, what I am wearing in this post represents me very well with this knitted navy top with a Mao collar and two ivory verticals lines matching the tailored shorts and the leather belt. Following the same colour tone, I am wearing ivory socks held by sock garters with multi-coloured loafers. This footwear is one of its kind being a pair and same but different. Very smart and funky choice at the same time. All this goes nicely with the denim jacket and the navy colour cap. The cross-body tote bag is the last element in this look. Colourful knitted accessories with details in leather perfect for many occasions and looks.
